Harvesting growth: Reflecting on wins and goals mid-year

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” — C.S. Lewis

As the days grow shorter and leaves begin to turn, we enter a season that invites reflection and gratitude. Fall is not just a time for harvesting crops…it’s also an opportunity to harvest our lessons learned from the year so far and make any needed adjustments.

Autumn is the perfect season for us to pause, reflect on our personal journeys, celebrate our achievements, and set meaningful goals for the rest of the year.

So let’s explore how to make the most of this reflective season!

Reflect on your journey

The first step is to reflect on your journey over the past year. Ask yourself:

    • What have I accomplished? Did you learn a new skill, improve a relationship, or overcome a challenge? Celebrate both big and small victories – every achievement, no matter how small, deserves recognition!
    • What challenges have I faced? Reflecting on obstacles can provide valuable insights. Consider what you learned from these experiences, how they have shaped you, and whether something needs to change as a result.
    • Where do I need to readjust? Given your progress & challenges to date, where might you need to readjust your goals?

Journaling your reflections can help you to take stock visually. Write down your achievements, lessons learned, and any changes you need to make.

Celebrate your achievements

Once you’ve reflected on your journey so far this year, take time to celebrate your achievements.

This could be as simple as treating yourself to a favourite meal or as elaborate as hosting a gathering with friends and family. Celebrating your successes reinforces your self-worth and motivates you to continue pursuing your goals.

Adjust your goals

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” —Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

After reflecting and celebrating, it’s time to review your goals for the rest of the year.

Look back at the goals you set in January. Considering the time left, is it still realistic to achieve these goals this year? Do you need to readjust the goal or the timeframe?

For the goals you plan to pursue, think about which steps you must take to move your goals forward. Break the larger goal down into smaller steps. List them in order of priority and schedule your next best action step.

And be sure to build in a reward for how you’ll celebrate at the end of the year!

Embrace a growth mindset

As you set and readjust your goals, remember to cultivate a growth mindset. Practice compassion towards yourself for any setbacks. Embrace the idea that you can learn and grow at any age.

Challenges are simply opportunities in disguise, and setbacks can lead to valuable lessons. When faced with obstacles, remind yourself of your resilience, the skills you’ve developed over the years, and your ability to succeed.

Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage your growth. Connect with other women who share similar goals or interests. Having a community can provide motivation, accountability, and inspiration as you work toward your dreams.

Remember, it’s never too late to dream, grow and create the life you want.

This fall, let’s honour the lessons of our past while eagerly anticipating our bright future ahead. Here’s to stepping boldly into the fall with the courage and excitement of an eager student returning to school! 🍂✨
